Are You Entertaining Yourself Spiritually?

The other day, I wrote a blog post on Mastin Kipp’s book: Daily Love: Growing into Grace. In the book, he talks about the phrase spiritual entertainment. He defines this as “personal growth without action.”

Mastin really got me thinking about my own spiritual entertainment. While, I have learned a lot through my spiritual journey, I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve taken very little action towards living my dream and life purpose. My spiritual entertainment includes-

I thought that there was a blockage of some sort preventing me from living my purpose. What I have learned is that the blockage is coming from the pattern of staying where I’m at. It’s comfortable to do the same thing over and over. Enough! It’s time to take action.

The Numerology Guide Book by Michelle Buchanan Book Review

Before reading The Numerology Guide Book: Uncover Your Destiny and the Blueprint of Your Life by Michelle Buchanan, I had only heard of numerology, and so I knew very little about it. Perhaps the only thing that I knew for sure on this subject was that there are phases in our lives which can be cyclical in nature.

What began as a curiosity quickly turned into a fascination.

It is amazing what your name can uncover about yourself and your life path. According to Michelle Buchanan, there are several numbers that are derived from your birth name including the Life Path Number, the Destiny Number, and the Soul Number, among others. The most significant number being the Life Path Number as it “indicates the kind of life experiences you’ll encounter as you fulfill your destiny and life purpose.” Uncovering the meaning of this number alone allows you to better understand your life and your soul’s calling in this lifetime.

The book itself is divided into three parts.

The first part is called Your Core Numbers, which deals with key numbers like Life Path Number, the Destiny Number, and the Soul Number. In the second part, Forecasting and Timing, Buchanan discusses major life cycles, pinnacles, and challenges. Finally, the third part is titled Other Numbers in Your Life. This last section sparked interest in me in terms of choosing names for children and businesses and what you can expect from their names. Finally, there is also a part at the end of the book that explains recurring numbers such as 111, 222, 333, etc. I now have an understanding of what these numbers that I had seen for years mean.

After reading this book, I came to understand why certain events have happened in my life and what I could expect in years to come. This book is a guide where you work with numbers to figure out the blueprint of your life. I highly recommend this comprehensive numerology book to anyone that has an interest in knowing more about numerology or just knowing more about their life path.

Antes de leer The Numerology Guide Book: Uncover Your Destiny and the Blueprint of Your Life por Michelle Buchanan, solamente había oído de la numerología y sabía muy poco de ello. Quizás la única cosa que sabía acerca la numerología era que hay fases en nuestras vidas que son de la naturaleza cíclica.

Lo que comenzó como un interés y curiosidad rápidamente se convertió en una fascinación.

Es increíble lo que un nombre puede revelar de tí y tu camino en la vida. Michelle Buchanan escribe sobre varios números que son derivados de tu nombre de nacimiento como el Life Path Number (Número del Camino en la Vida), the Destiny Number (Número del Destino), y el Soul Number (Número del Alma), entre otros. El número más importante es el Life Path Number porque “indica que el tipo de experiencias que tendrás mientras realizas tu propio destino y tu propósito de vida.” Descubriendo el significado de este número te permite comprender tu vida y el llamado de tu alma en esta vida.

El libro se divide en tres partes.

La última parte se llama Other Numbers in Your Life, u Otros Número en tu Vida. Esta última parte me interesó mucho porque habla sobre lo que uno puede esperar de los nombres que se les da a los niños o a un negocio. Por último, también hay una parte al final del libro que explica los números recurrentes tales como 111, 222, 333, etc. Ahora entiendo de lo que estos números recurrentes que había visto durante años significan.

Después de haber leído este libro entiendo el por que ciertos eventos me han pasado en mi vida y lo que puedo suceder en el futuro. Este libro es un guía donde trabajas con números para descrifrar el propósito de tu vida. Les recomiendo este libro de numerología comprensivo a todos que quisieran saber más acerca la numerología o para conocer algo más sobre nosotros mismos.

What you resist will persist. And resist I did. To be completely honest, money is something that I still haven’t quite figured out, and it took me a while to pick up the book and to read it. Like everything in life, there’s a reason why I chose to review new, amazing financial book by Kate Northrup: Money: A Love Story. I’ve read some books on money and finance before, but none quite like Money: A Love Story. Aside from sharing with us her own personal finance journey, Kate also makes this book a guide with exercises that makes you explore your own emotions and feelings about money – from dissolving your childhood money beliefs, to getting over your fear of money, to ways to become financially free by creating passive, residual, and recurrent income. And what does money have to do with love? According to Kate, it has everything to do with it. Money can be seen as an extension of our self-value and love for ourselves. For example, giving value and receiving value is self-love. Two examples of this concept can be seen when we say yes to everyone. In her book she states, “When you’re tired and have put no focus on yourself, the value you give isn’t that valuable. Likewise, by “spending beyond our means, we’re buying things that aren’t in true alignment with our values.” Like emotional healing, money also requires healing. And healing is a return to love. Aside from sharing her incredibly, inspiring story, she also shares practical exercises to do the “emotional” work with your own money issues. These exercises make you dig deep into the root of your own financial woes. In order to get the most out of this book, the exercises need to be done. Doing these exercises will bring to light your own financial issues and slowly diminish your money woes. After all, it is an inside job. Finally, and for the first time in my life, I understood her philosophy on living with financial freedom in order to “be fully present to your purpose on the planet.” All of us have the right and deserve abundance in all its forms and this includes financial prosperity. Having this financial freedom allows us to be creative and to serve our purpose in this life. After reading this book, I’m looking at my relationship with money in a new light. For the first time in my life, I have a sense of peace with my finances, and I’ve begun my own love story with money. If you haven’t yet figured it all out with money, then this is a book for you. Lo que resistes persisterá. Y como he resistido. Para ser completamente honesta, el dinero es algo que todavía no entiendo completamente. Tomé bastante tiempo para leer este libro. Write, Write, and Write

“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” ~ Ernest Hemingway

Sometimes, as writers, we are uninspired. Perhaps this is just a case of writer’s block. The words just don’t come to us as other times. At my best, I feel that my pen is an extension of my arm, my hand, my soul. I say this because there have been times where my creativity peaks and I begin connecting ideas on so many levels. It feels as if the words are not coming directly from me and instead they’re coming from a higher source and through me. Nevertheless, at this moment, I feel a bit like Hemingway’s quote. I sit here with my laptop in front of me and I am bleeding profusely. Perhaps, Hemingway meant something completely different than my interpretation of this quote, but this is how I feel and this is what it means to me now- at this precise moment. Ok, so I am exaggerating just a bit here and making it sound more like a horrifying and traumatic experience. It really isn’t. It’s happened to me many times before and I have overcome this with patience, and, of course, writing.

It is times like this that I am reminded why I write. I write because I have so much to say; I write because it is one of my passions; I write because I have a memoir that is “done”; I write because I greatly enjoy it; I write to help others; I write to say things that I cannot tell everyone; I write because I am grateful; I write to remember my days and nights; I write to learn and to reflect; I write to inspire others; I write because I take great pleasure in filling my blank page that is my empty canvas with words that come to life; I simply write.

Back in October 2012, I attended a writing workshop. This workshop was through Hay House Publishing and one of its presenters was Lisa Fugard, Hay House author. She talked about the importance of writing every day (even if it was for a few minutes) and getting your first draft down. Lisa said, “It’s important to get your first draft down- be it messy, riddled with clichés, tense changes, purple prose. Write to the end, or what you believe is the end. Be willing to leave imperfection in your wake. Without the first draft you cannot delve into important questions: what am I writing about, what’s at stake, what are my themes? First drafts are like forays into a mine; you will unearth jewels and also a great deal of rough material. Don’t fall into the trap of endlessly rewriting and refining your first chapter. You might jettison it, it might become your third chapter. Write… write to the end…”

All I have to do is to simple remember to write. That’s what we writers do.
